Aetherdrop Sigil — UV Reactive Fumed Aether Amulet
Tear-shaped borosilicate amulet with a UV-reactive white sigil band encasing a swirling blue fume vortex. Glows under 365 nm light and feels like a relic pulled out of some other realm. Handcrafted and kiln-annealed at Essex Glass Studio.
Hand-sculpted borosilicate pendant formed in a ritualistic teardrop silhouette. The outer ring is a thick band of UV-reactive white—glowing bright neon pink/violet under 365nm light—encased in clear glass with microbubble texture that gives the surface a relic-like, aged character.
At the center sits an encased gold-and-silver fume lens, gathered into a swirling aether-blue vortex. The pattern shows layered wisps and rotational flow, suggesting a contained pocket of energy. Under strong light, the lens depth intensifies and reveals distinct fume veils.
The pendant culminates in a clean point drop at the bottom, reinforcing the sigil-and-relic identity. The bail is a reinforced loop with smooth seals, allowing for cord, chain, or keyring mounting.
Overall, the piece reads as a mystical key or focus object—clean lines, strong silhouette, serious UV presence, and a vortex core that anchors the aesthetic.
🎓 Did You Know? (5)
1. UV-reactive borosilicate can fluoresce dramatically even with thin application, giving relic pieces a “magical aura” under blacklight.
2. Teardrop and keystone shapes are historically tied to talismans and seals in multiple folklore systems.
3. Encased fume lenses often show more detail under high-CRI daylight bulbs than under direct sunlight.
4. Controlled microbubbles in clear glass aren’t defects; many artists intentionally seed them to mimic age or create motion.
5. Combining fume cores with UV-reactive encasings produces “dual-behavior glass,” a popular modern direction in pendant art.
